The Making Of Myth

Notes on To Kill a Mockingbird – 7th chapter

with one comment

Summary

In chapter 7 Scout and Jem decide to consider everything they find in the knot-hole (see chapter 4) as their own property. It seems that the children have found a well wisher as the knot-hole fills with presents like in fairy tales.

Jem and Scout take Boo Radely being their secret sponsor for granted. It is Jem’s idea to drop him a letter in order to thank. At the day they planed to place the letter within the knot-hole Mr. Nathan Radely closed it with cement.

The boy is in doubt about his explanation, that he filled the hole because of the near death of the tree. Therefore he tries to  reassure his suspicion by asking his father about it.

Something innocent is being harmed here.
